From Sustainability Program, you can attach files to metrics as reference or supporting attachments:

• Reference attachments provide context about an overall metric, such as to help members prepare or approve its values:
  • Guidance downloaded as a portable document file (PDF) from a framework
  • Example formulas used to calculate values
  • Organizational goals that the metric supports

  Tip: Workspace members assigned to prepare or approve a metric's values can refer to these files as they complete their tasks in Workiva Tasks or from a connected source file.

• Supporting attachments provide context about a specific value within a metric, such as utility bills, calculations, or other evidence provided as part of its data collection.

  Note: To help identify a supporting attachment when downloaded for an audit request, include the context of its value — such as collection period and dimension — in its file name.

Attach files to a metric or value

To add an attachment to a metric, you can:

• Upload it from your local drive or network, such as for a PDF, image, or other file
• Reference its file in your Workiva workspace, such as for a Spreadsheet or Document
• Create its hyperlink, such as for a file in Google Drive®, Microsoft SharePoint®, or other online storage

To attach a file:

1. From Sustainability Program, open the metric.
2. Choose whether to add a reference or supporting attachment.
   • Reference
   • Supporting

   To attach a file about the metric, such as general guidance or example formulas, click Reference attachments in Metric details.

   
   

   Note: These files appear outside of Sustainability Program, such as for members who prepare or approve the metric's values from Workiva Tasks or a connected source file.

   To attach a file about the metric's value, such as evidence or calculations provided as part of data collection:

   • If the period collects only one value, click Add supporting attachments in Metric value.
     
   • For a dimensional value, click Supporting attachments attach_file in Supporting.
     

   Note: Each value can have up to 50 supporting attachments.

   Note: If you use the Program as a query data source, the Supporting attachments column includes only the file names of uploaded files; no Workiva files or web addresses appear.

3. Specify the files to attach.
   • Upload file
   • Workiva file
   • Online file

   To upload a file as an attachment:

   1. Select Upload file, and click Choose file.
      
   2. Browse to and select the file to upload.

   To attach a Workiva file — such as a Spreadsheet or Document — in your workspace:

   1. Select Workiva file.
      
   2. In Source file, select the Workiva file to attach.
   3. To attach a specific section of the file, select it in Source section.
   4. Click Attach.

   To attach an online file:

   1. Select Web address.
      
   2. Enter the full URL for the file.
   3. In Display name, enter how the attachment should appear for members, such as in the metric or Workiva Tasks.
   4. Click Attach.
4. After you add all attachments, click Save.

Add a reference attachment to multiple metrics

To use the same reference attachment with multiple related metrics, add it from Find and replace:

1. From Program overview in Sustainability Program, click Find and replace find_replace, and select Metric details.
   
2. Apply filters to find the metrics to add the attachment to, and click Find.
3. In Results, select the metrics to add the attachment to.
4. In Replace:
   
   
   • In Change, select Add.
   • In Field, select Reference attachment.
   • In Reference attachment, add the attachments to apply to the selected metrics.
5. Click Update all.

Download an uploaded attachment

To save a copy of a file uploaded to a metric as a reference or supporting attachment, click its name to download it to your browser's Downloads folder.

Download supporting attachments for multiple values

To help ease audit requests, you can download a ZIP file of the supporting attachments uploaded — for a specific metric's values, a topic's metrics, or the Program as a whole — for a reporting year.

Note: The ZIP file will contain only the values' supporting attachments, not the metrics' reference attachments. To save a file uploaded as a reference attachment, download it from its metric.

To download supporting attachments:

1. From Sustainability Program, choose which supporting attachments to download:
   • To download files from a specific metric or a topic's metrics, select the metric or topic in the outline.
   • To download files from multiple topics' metrics, or to download all attachments, select Program overview in the outline.
2. Select the program year of the attachments to download, and select Download metric attachments from the menu.
   
3. Select whether to download all attachments for the year, or only specific attachments.
   
   If you select Download only specific attachments, choose the files to include in the ZIP file.
   

   Tip: To help find a specific attachment, click Search search to search for it by name.

   Note: If your download exceeds 1,300 attachments or 1.5 gigabyte (gb), select fewer files, or download them based on their topics or metrics.

4. To save the ZIP file to your browser's Downloads folder, click Download. 

   Tip: To help organize the attachments, the ZIP file includes a folder structure based on the hierarchy of topics and metrics in the Program outline.

Delete an attachment

To remove a reference or supporting attachment from a metric, click Delete .
